AUTISM CHALLENGE 2024 KM

Autism Challenge 2024 Km - Act 29

The tale of an incredible odyssey filled with hope for all children with disabilities.

A collective and supportive walk, bringing together hikes in Europe and Africa with a goal of 2024!

These are the kilometers covered by Adam, his sisters, and more than 100 children who participated in over 30 hikes in France, Europe, and Africa, including Algeria and the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco… 2024, symbolizing the number of kilometers in connection with the year of the Olympic Games to be held in Paris.

Initiated in May 2021, this series of hikes concluded in December 2023 in the Algerian Sahara.

Our visit to the pediatric psychiatric center in Djanet with the gifts brought by the children marked the beginning of this Saharan adventure.

Knowing how to walk, putting one foot in front of the other to move towards a place or a person, is a source of discoveries.

The child who starts walking is no longer an infant but a little woman or man setting out to discover the world and experiencing their first adventures.

They look, observe, touch, listen, hear, smell, and taste the joys and pleasures of autonomy.

Our adapted hiking project initiated in May 2021 aligns with this approach; walking is an invaluable learning ground for children, especially for children with autism.

Walking, but not only that, meeting other people. Breaking the monotony, walking through the seasons with themes, listening to nature, letting ideas simmer…

And most importantly, prioritizing pleasure. The essential engine of learning and discovery. Letting oneself be overwhelmed by the emotions generated by novelty, or simply by the happiness of a moment of relaxation.
